DISCOVERY SCUBA DIVING AT CASA CENOTE
We offer Discovery Scuba Diving in cenotes for beginners at CASA CENOTE, with no certification required.
CASA CENOTE provides ideal conditions for novice cenote divers: crystal-clear water with no current, abundant marine life, schools of tarpon, captivating light effects, unique halocline phenomena, and the scenic beauty of Yucatán’s mangroves. With a maximum depth of 6 meters (20 feet), CASA CENOTE ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for beginner divers.
CASA CENOTE connects the world’s longest underwater cave system, Sac Actun, to the ocean. This cenote diving site is one of the few open watercourses on the Yucatán Peninsula. Located 10 km north of Tulum and 50 km south of Playa del Carmen, CASA CENOTE gives divers the unique experience of diving beneath mangroves. The scuba diving route follows the river course at a depth that does not exceed 6 meters (20 feet).
Due to its ocean connection, CASA CENOTE is home to both freshwater and marine fish species. Divers can observe the mangrove roots filtering brackish water. Large rocks adorned with green algae and moss decorate the cenote floor. Emerging at the river’s end, you may spot diverse bird species, including the osprey, known as the “fishing eagle.” With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a Morelet’s crocodile, also known as the “Mexican crocodile” or “Panchito.”
