ANGELITA
Located 15km south of Tulum, Angelita, “little angel”, is not only an atypical dive in a cenote, but a unique dive in all respects. By walking about 5 minutes through the jungle, you reach this picturesque circular-shaped cenote which descends straight to 200ft (60 m). As you descend through fresh, clear water, you will meet at 30m a hydrogen sulphate cloud that intersects a mountain of rocks and trees giving the impression of an island amidst the clouds. Under the cloud begins salt water. It is dark here, like being in a forest at night.
Depending on the air consumption, the ascent can be done slowly by meandering along the walls. A few huge stalactites, hanging from the edge of the cenote, can be admired here, reminding us of times when the water level was much lower.
Angelita is a dive for experienced divers due to the depth, most often 130ft (40m). In addition, this cenote is also popular for technical diving, decompression diving and freediving.
ANGELITA
FEATURES
- Depth: 130ft / 40m
- Dive time: consumption limit ~40’
- Access: Moderate
- Nitrox preferred
- Level: Advanced min

CARWASH – CENOTE DIVING
Known as well as AKTUN HA, once used for washing taxis. Aktun Ha is located 8 km west of Tulum on the road to Coba. With access, feet in the water, divers find easy way to enter. The cavern presents an unreal atmosphere with its trees and roots obscuring the entrance overlooking large coffee-colored columns which, like any good fairy tale, will take you to a strange and different world where you can observe certain Mayan artifacts .
Looking towards the entrance, one has the impression of being under the clouds thanks to this tannin which forms near the surface. The light falling through the roots creates an incredible light show with its huge stalactites in the foreground.
The open part of the cenote is equally captivating with its crystal clear waters filled with lily pads where cichlids, turtles and other tropical wildlife lurk.
CARWASH
FEATURES
- Depth: 50 ft / 16m
- Dive time: 55′
- Access: Easy
