DREAMGATE
Cenote Dreamgate is located about 50 km south of Playa del Carmen. The entrance to the cenote is spectacular where many species of birds can be observed. You will find a rope and pulley to lower all your heavy gear onto the deck at water level. You can access by descending some wooden steps to the terrace below.
DreamGate certainly has the most beautiful speleotherms (limestone formations): the cavern is filled with stalactites, columns and stalagmites.
There are two independent diving circuits in this cavern: The upstream line and downstream line. The upstream line is the most richly decorated, and at the furthest point of the dive is an air pocket with a fully decorated ceiling. Returning to the entrance, the light entering the cenote outlines the stalactites for a breathtaking view.
The downstream line is quite different; it is also fully decorated and communicates with another cenote. Many jungle tree roots enter the cave to draw its water. At the farthest point of the circuit, the light of the other cenote can be seen.
Diving in this cavern is recommended for experienced cenote divers as it is small, fragile and totally dark in some places.
